Do you want to live on benefits?

No, people who have Body Integrity Identity Disorder do not want an impairment merely to be able to receive benefit.

In fact, the majority of transabled individuals are employed and able to continue employment in their chosen field of work, with or without their needed impairment.

Given that employers see 'disability' as a 'liability,' the transabled employee is likely to be more determined to prove their worth and possibly out-perform their peers. And that is not even allowing for the likelihood that up to then, the employee may have been seriously under-performing because of the depressing and demoralising effect of their BIID.
